Built in 1877 and designed by renowned architect Alfred Waterhouse, this Victorian/Gothic structure presently houses offices for the city council. Guided tours reveal the importance of this building throughout Manchester's history. Painted murals found in the Great Hall depict prominent historical events. Today, it houses a tourist information center, provides services for thousands, and is a favorite attraction among visitors.
