The Hallé Orchestra is one of the two most renowned orchestras in all of Britain. The orchestra performs pieces by both contemporary artists and the all-time masters such as Beethoven and Schubert. The Bridgewater Hall is home to many of Hallé's performances. The hall is a large, contemporary building that hosts ballets, operas, Gershwin musicals, choral concerts, and British folk performances.

Established in 1952, the Library Theatre Company is the longest running theater company in Manchester. It not only hosts the classic plays you expect, but it also hosts children's theater pieces and work by contemporary artists. The Library Theater has debuted many new plays and musicals by modern playwrights.

This cotton exchange was converted into a theater in 1972. However, it served as a venue for concert performances as early as the 1700's. Today, with over 700 seats, The Royal Exchange is the largest theater in the country. They host anything from Shakespeare to musicals to political plays. You will also find concerts, discussions, and readings that are sponsored by the theater.
